Mary, The Sister Of
Lazarus, Anoints Jesus At Bethany
Bar-Simon, who was once a leper and was cleansed by
Jesus by the sacred Word, abode in Bethany. In honour of the Christine
Lord (Christian Lord), he gave a feast, and Lazarus was among the guests, and
Ruth and Martha served.
And as the guests reclined about the table, Mary took a cruse of rich perfume and poured it out on Jesus' head and feet.
And then she knelt and with her hair she wiped His feet; the odour of the rich
perfume filled all the room.
Now, Judas, always looking at the selfish side of life, exclaimed, “For shamed,
why did you waste that costly perfume thus? We might
have sold it for three hundred pence, and had the money to supply our wants and
feed the poor.” Now, Judas was the treasurer, and carried all the money of the
Christine band.
And others said, “Why, Mary, what a wasteful you are! You should not throw such
wealth away.”
But Jesus said, “You men, be still; let her alone;
you know not what you say. The poor are with you constantly; at any time
you can administer to them; but I will not be with you long. And Mary knows the
sadness of the coming days; she has anointed me beforehand for my burial. The
gospel of the Christ will everywhere be preached, and he who tells the story of
the Christ will tell about this day; and what was done by Mary at this hour
will be a sweet memorial to her wherever men abide.”
And when the feast was over Jesus went with Lazarus to his home.
Six days before the Passover, Jesus
came to Bethany, where Laz′arus was, whom Jesus
had raised from the dead. There they
made Him a supper; Martha served, and Laz′arus
was one of those at table with Him.
Mary, the sister of Lazarus, came having an
alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard. Then she broke the flask and
poured it on His feet. But there were some who were indignant among themselves,
and said, "Why was this fragrant oil wasted? For it might have been sold
for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor." And they
criticized her sharply.
Jesus said, “Let her alone, let her
keep it for the day of my burial. The
poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me.” John 12:1-8
Explanation Of The
First Anointing On The Head
As Jesus
said, the anointing was to prepare Him for His crucifixion and death on the
Calvary. The first anointing by Mary Magdalene was on His head, because the anointing
of the Holy Spirit flows from the head down to the feet of a man. The anointing
on the feet was to consummate the first anointing, to mark the completion and
perfection of the anointing, and to seal the anointing.
The
anointing with which Jesus went to the Calvary was a great and special
anointing which was not completed on a day. Unlike the usual anointing which
people receive on the spot, during prayers and worship.
The anointing took several days to complete, to download the spiritual power and
strength which Jesus needed for His work on the Calvary.
Explanation Of The
Second Anointing On The Feet
The first
anointing on the head took several days. And when it ended, the Holy Spirit
moved Mary, the sister of Martha, to close and seal the anointing.
Why did
Mary wipe the feet of Jesus with her hairs?
The hairs
means spiritual power of the Holy Spirit. That is why the women should not, and
must not, cut their hairs. The longer the hairs are, the better. The longer the
hairs, the more powers of the Holy Spirit they have. Using her hairs to wipe
the feet of Jesus simply means that Jesus is so precious, so holy and so worthy
as Lord and Saviour that humanity have to worship him.
The Meaning Of Mary
Why Marys only?
Mary means
bitterness, joy and victory.
Bitterness,
because of His suffering in order to save humanity.
Joy,
because Jesus has overcome the world. “These
things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have
peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have
overcome the world.” John 16:33
And
victory, because Jesus is power and victory in all fronts, for the children of
God and the Hosts of Angels and Saints of Heaven.
Anointing By The Two Marys
The two
women, Mary Magdalene and Mary the sister of Lazarus, did as the Holy Spirit
inspired them, because the Israelites have heard about the coming of the Jesus
Christ and knew about His death. It was all the people who wanted to worship
God in spirit and in truth that the Holy Spirit used to do such holy works of
true and holy anointing. Such people knew and believed that Jesus is the
Messiah. The second anointing was a confirmation.
Anointing By The Cherubim And Seraphim
And while I
was ministering during a Sabbath prayer and worship, the Cherubim and Seraphim
took possession of a lady. The lady knelt down and moved from the congregation
towards the altar. And with her hairs, she continually wiped my feet, in the
presence of the congregation and the general public. The venue was an open
space by the side of the main road. Even the passengers in the passing vehicles
could see what was happening.
Worshipped By The
Cherubim And Seraphim
During one
midnight prayer, the Cherubim and Seraphim came down from heaven. And while
singing and praises were going on, they held their hands in a circle round
myself, and they knelt down and worshipped me, in the presence of the
congregation.
Why No Man Anointed Jesus Christ
It is only
those who stand near a tree that can pick up the fruits that fall down from the
tree. Even so were the women, because many of them were earnest in things of
God. But, the men were generally less concerned and hard-hearted. They often
failed woefully to lead the women folk in the true spiritual efforts and
ministrations.
Why was it only
the women that did anoint Jesus?
The
anointing is what the religious leaders, the chief priests and elders, should
have done, just as the elders gather as king-makers to crown a king. The
religious leaders failed to do this very important duty, because they were
acting out of jealousy, greed and hypocrisy. Instead of introducing Jesus as
the Lord and Saviour to humanity, and giving Him all necessary supports, they
were plotting against Jesus and preventing the masses from going to their God
and Maker.
Since they
failed to do the needful, as a sign and confirmation to humanity, that Jesus is
the Messiah, the Holy Spirit had to use the women with pure heart and true love
to do so. The sign of anointing is necessary for humanity to know that
everything about Jesus is not made secret, and that His crucifixion and death
were not by chance, and not just because the roman soldiers could do it, but
according to the will of God.
Anointing
reason, why the women were used, was because the women are often higher in
spiritual level. They receive and respond to spiritual signals more than the
men. The evidence is that in all churches, ministries and fellowships, the
women are always the majority. That means that women are more interested in the
things of God, more than the men. As such, and whenever necessary, it is the
people present at a place that render the needed services.
